Oxy-Plus and Oxy-Add

For low dissolved oxygen or septic conditions

Oxy-Plus

Challenge: In wastewater treatment plants, due to heavy loadings, poor design, or just hot weather, it is common for plants to experience low dissolved oxygen in the aeration basins. The warmer the water the lower dissolved oxygen saturation. Left unchecked, this can lead to filaments, poor settling, poor BOD removal and excess sludge production.

During this time it is common for primary clarifiers and lift stations to experience septic conditions coming into the plant, potentially causing sulfide corrosion, sulfide type filaments and poor settling.

Solution: To combat this IMR has developed Oxy-Plus, an easy to apply liquid micronutrient which promotes metabolic activity of the aerobic bacteria. Simply inject the prescribed parts per million of Oxy-Plus into the basin when you need it most (during periods of overloading or hot weather) the plant will recover faster and have less odors with Oxy-Plus.

Blended into Oxy-Plus are odor neutralizers which help to neutralize offensive odors.

Lift Stations: For lift stations our Oxy-Plus is used. Oxy-Plus will prevent downstream odors. Typical feed rate is 10 ppm. When odors subside dose rates will be cut back. Oxy-Plus comes in 5 gallon and 55 gallon units.
Application Rates: Rates depend on flow rates and customer objective. Typically ½ gallons per .1 MGD.

Case History A36: This municipal wastewater plant of 250,000 gpd was having difficulty getting good dissolved oxygen levels, especially during the hot summer time. The low dissolved oxygen was causing sever filaments, poor settling and odor problems.

To correct the problem they fed 10 ppm of Oxy-Plus into the aeration basin. Immediately they noticed a difference due to less odors, then gradually the filaments went away and settling improved.

Case History A37: This dairy wastewater plant periodically gets extremely high loadings which diminish dissolved oxygen levels, creates bad odors, poor settling and lots of headaches.

To combat this they use our Oxy-Plus during periods of high loadings. Use of this product helps to maintain good treatment, knock out odors and prevent filaments.

Case History A38: A rendering facility suffers from bad Hydrogen Sulfide odors coming out of their force main into their plant. Oxy-Plus is injected at a rate of 2 ppm and it successfully removes the sulfide odors. Prior to treatment, Sulfide levels were 30-40 ppm and now are down to less than 5 ppm.

Oxy-Add

A common challenge in wastewater plants due to heavy loadings, poor design, or unpredictable influents is to experiences low dissolved oxygen in the aeration basins. When waste sits or becomes stagnant, it goes septic and can often promote the formation of sulfide based filaments. Left unchecked this can lead to filaments, poor settling, poor BOD removal, excessive sludge production and bad odors.

To combat this, IMR has developed Oxy-Add and easy to use water soluble fast pak. Oxy-Add will promote metabolic activity of the anaerobic bacteria, knock out toxicity, sulfides and sulfide based filaments.

Oxy-Add can be used in lift stations to prevent downstream odors and neutralize existing odors. They come in 40# pails, 1# water soluble fast paks. The typical feed rate is 1 pak per day for up to a 100,000 gallon lift station. When odors subside dose rate can be cut back.

Oxy-Add can also be applied in sewer lines, holding tanks, lift stations and wastewater treatment plants.

Case History: This small village had bad corrosive hydrogen sulfide odors coming into their wastewater treatment plant. It was a dry, hot summer and the odors were really bad. They started adding our Oxy-Add XL into the manhole a quarter of a mile into town and it knocked out the odors.
